Merton Council Needs You! Find out more this Fostercare Fortnight

Foster Care Fortnight is a national campaign to raise awareness to find new foster families for children and young people in the UK. Merton urgently needs at least 20 families to look after young people, siblings groups and unaccompanied minors who come into care. Foster Carers need to live within easy reach of Merton.

Many people rule themselves out before applying to foster. Don't be one of them! Whatever your age, ethnicity, marital status, sexuality or personal circumstances, fostering could be for you. If you would like a challenging new role, have a spare bedroom and some childcare experience, find out more about fostering with Merton.

Time, patience, resilience and understanding are essential qualities for fostering a child, as well as a sense of humour! Fostering is about more than just parenting - you will be part of a team of people working with parents and social workers to care for children to improve their lives.

Merton Council will be running roadshows across the borough, so that people can find out more about what fostering involves. Come and have a chat with the team and find out more about fostering with us. The London Borough of Merton was rated 'Good with outstanding features in 2017. We're very proud that many of our foster carers stay with us for years.

"Fostering is a really rewarding task and we are keen to increase our pool of carers. Come and meet a Merton Foster Carer at one of our roadshow events and you will see why they like fostering for Merton". Liz Broughton, Head of Merton Fostering.
